The Thatch has finished the renovation and is ready to receive guests!
This Grade A listed cottage is one of the oldest on Tiree, built in the late 1700's and is one of the few remaining thatched houses left on Tiree. A unique place to stay, traditional but with all modern comforts you would expect in a high end rental property.
The kitchen and living space are surprisingly large and spacious. Travertine tiled worktop with the usual amenities, including a washing machine. There is a lit glass hatch to appreciate the thatched roof structure from below!
A new shower room with a large walk in shower with dual roses, one overhead and one directional.
The double bedroom features wood lining with antique furniture, shutters on the window, recessed LED lighting and a lovely warm floor.
There is a hallway with a pew styled bench with coat hooks to accommodate outdoor clothing and boots.
The whole house is painted using ECOS paint with some colour from Farrow and Ball. It is a mixture of wood V-lining and the original stone wall, with a large neutral porcelain tile throughout.
We are very environmentally aware living on Tiree and to this end the house is heated with a Diakin air-source heatpump featuring under-floor heating below the tiles, making it lovely and warm with a very even heat and simple to operate control system. LED lighting throughout. Rental includes all linen and towels with free broadband, Sky TV and a DVD player.
Overall, this traditional and original thatched house is a perfect getaway on Tiree for a couple, either surfing, birdwatching or just getting away from it all, always warm and cosy whether you choose to come in summer or winter. There is nowhere more comfortable and unique. Please join us for a week, a month or for a short break. The cottage is available throughout the year.
